1. What is collected
Three things: the name you type in, a record of the request, and cookies for advertising and analytics. There is nowhere to enter an address, a phone number or an email address. There are no accounts.
The name you type
The name is used only to build the result. It is never used to choose which advertisements you see, and it is never handed to an advertising company.
It is, however, encrypted into the address of the result page. Anyone who has that address can open that result.
The name is deliberately kept out of the browser tab title, so that it is not swept up when the page title is sent to analytics. The name appears only in the body of the page and in the image made for sharing.
Answers to the five questions
The answers feed into the calculation. Like the name, they are encrypted into the address of the result. There is no database holding the answers on their own.
Request records
We record how often pages are opened, where visitors arrived from, an approximate region, and the kind of browser. This is not used to follow any individual.
Result addresses are not written to the request log. The log holds a random per-request identifier, the kind of operation, the response status and how long it took.
2. What the public figures are
The numbers on the statistics page are counts of results, not of people and not of names. Three things are published: how often each kanji came out on top, how the reason scores are distributed, and how many readings were made in the last 90 days.
Nothing in those figures shows who read what, or when.
3. Cookies, advertising, and what leaves this site
To understand how the site is used and to serve advertising, information is sent to the companies below. This table is also the disclosure required by Article 27-12 of Japan's Telecommunications Business Act.

The address of a result page contains the name in encrypted form. Only the operator holds the key, so no recipient can recover the name from it. It does, however, behave like an identifier, because the same input always produces the same address.

You can block cookies in your browser. The readings still work with cookies blocked. Google's Analytics opt-out add-on and Google's ad personalisation settings also apply.
5. How long things are kept

So it is not true to say the name is stored nowhere. As the table shows, the share image holds the name as a picture. After 60 days that image is deleted, but it is rebuilt if anyone opens the result address again. To remove it for good, ask for the result to be taken down.
6. Takedowns and reports
If a result made from your name is public and you want it stopped, send us the address and we will take it down. There is also a report box at the bottom of every result page.
Once stopped, the page and its image no longer load. Images that have already been posted or saved elsewhere cannot be called back.
